Newborn Ellianna and her parents came to the studio from their home in Andover for a newborn photography session when she was just 3 weeks old. Her mummy requested soft peach tones for her photographs which works beautifully with some soft green accents. Baby Ellianna, slept so beautifully for her newborn photo shoot and only woke up right at the very end to show me her amazing eyes!
When parent's book me as their Andover newborn photographer, I always offer them a telephone consultation to chat through their ideas for the session and to answer any questions they might have about newborn photography in general. We also chat about colours which can have such an impact on the feel of their finished images. Some clients like to choose colours to co-ordinate with their home while others prefer a traditional girl, or boy colour palette. I love these soft peach tones that Ellianna's parents chose for her session.
While colour is of course important in planning your session, I love to incorporate some simple black and white images too. These a so timeless and classic that they will never date! These black and white images work brilliantly with parent's hands poses which I use to show how tiny their newborn baby is. These will be especially treasured as their baby grows!
This pretty beaded bonnet and the matching romper shown below are from one of my favourite vendors. They are lovingly handmade using the most beautiful, soft yarn and always fit my newborns perfectly.
The bucket pose is one of my most requested poses by parents. It's an advanced newborn pose and should only be attempted by experienced newborn photographers who had undergone the relevant safety training. Babies usually love being in the bucket and settle into it quite quickly. It's a lovely pose to show the features of your baby's face.
The heart bowl is another of my favourite props! It's so simple to style and the perfect size to curl newborns up in.
My newborn sessions finish with the table poses. These are simple and sweet, with a plain coloured backdrop so the focus is all on your baby. I have a huge range of these backdrop colours in the studio ready to use for your session, so you'll be sure to find the perfect colour for your newborn phootgraphs.
A favourite parent pose image with mummy and daddy, with some added backlit magic. You can just feel the love in this one!
And then some more traditional first family portraits. Sweet Ellianna will treasure these the most when she is older.
Little Ellianna only woke up right at the end of her newborn session, just in time for me to capture this beautiful fine art daddy's hands pose with her eyes wide open. Isn't she adorable!
