Baby’s First Year: A Month-by-Month Guide to Key Milestones and Development

The first year of your baby’s life is an incredible journey filled with rapid growth, exciting changes, and unforgettable milestones. From the first smile to those wobbly first steps, each stage of baby development is a new adventure. Understanding baby milestones can help you track your little one’s progress and support their learning in simple but meaningful ways.

While every baby develops at their own pace, this month-by-month guide will give you a general idea of what to expect in your baby’s first year. Keep in mind that variations are normal, and if you ever have concerns about your baby’s development, your GP or health visitor is always the best resource.
